Little Tadpoles Looking For Mama is the first live performance I produced and performed during Melbourne Fringe 2019, mentored by highly claimed Butoh dancer Umi Umimare. I am inspired to bring communities together by presenting a story that captures the universal theme of searching for connections at difficult times, love lost and found. This project therefore hopes to connect people who experience feelings of isolation by emphasising our common humanity while celebrating unique identity and culture, human vulnerability and creativity. This project has given me the privilege to hear other people' s stories of how they navigated their lives after the loss of their parents at an early age.
Funded by local councils, the continuing development of Tadpoles will build on earlier successes and learnings, and will include a combination of animations, live music and dance to create an aesthetic and immersive audience experience. The performance will take place at Bowery Theatre in 2021. Currently, I am developing the illustrations and performance. Stay tuned for the upcoming exhibitions!
